. The number one question that I get asked when brides reach out to me is, “How much is your services,” or, “What’s included with your packages,” et cetera. So, want to talk really quick about why that question gets asked. That question usually gets asked because typically, in many scenarios, this is the first time someone is planning a wedding or they may not have a better question to ask them because they’re not really as familiar with the services or what else is there to look for, right? I mean, we all understand money, we all understand deliverables, what’s included, but we don’t really know what other questions to ask sometimes when we’re shopping in a market that we may not be as familiar with. And that’s the number one reason that question gets asked.

Should you do a fake exit or not? It just depends. It depends on, A, from there’s the budget side of it. Are you looking to save money, are you not looking to save money? As far as your coverage with your photo and video, because this can help save a couple of hours, depending on the time of year. That’s the second part. When is your wedding? When is your ceremony? How late is the reception running? And then you have the whole, are you looking to do your exit and leave? Are you looking to do your exit and come back? Which is what a fake exit is. Or I think they call them a faux exit. But what I’m saying is when you have a sparkler exit… So traditionally speaking, an exit is an exit. When you leave, you go. No matter how you’re leaving, you just go.

Let’s talk about the different types of exit types really quick. I have seen everything. Now obviously, the most common in the modern wedding is sparkler exits. That’s the big one. A lot of traditional weddings may have had things like rice thrown, I’ve seen glitter thrown. You really just have to think about your guest, the vibe of your wedding, what kind of wedding is it? And the style you’re going for.

So with a wedding, some brides have it all on one location, which I think is a phenomenal idea. It’s a preferred idea for your vendors because we get to show up in one spot and stay in one spot, especially video, and we don’t have to pack up all … We don’t have to break down everything, pick it up, move it to a whole different property on the other side of town. That’s huge for us, and you also get more coverage because you’re not wasting all this time driving around and then trying to find parking.

First of all, and I say toast, I’m talking about people on the mic during your reception, telling their story about whatever, telling their story about you, the couple, just sharing their experience and these aren’t tips on what you should say. Obviously you should probably keep it clean because it’s getting videoed, right You probably don’t want to expose the bride and groom too much, because it can make certain people feel uncomfortable, but what I would recommend is two things. And this is for the video. First of all, make sure that the bride and groom are either sitting down during the toast speeches or if they’re standing up, they need to be standing up and staying in the same spot for most of the time.

I get asked all the time, how many hours of coverage do I need? Good question. So, start with the standard here, standard hour coverage, usually six or eight hours. Some weddings may only need two to four, some may need 10, some may need multiple days, it just varies depending on your event. But if I’m looking at the standard wedding, it’s usually, a standard full day wedding, it’s usually six or eight hours. Six, seven, eight or nine, but usually six or eight, and that usually gives you all the coverage you need. The biggest thing you have to figure out is what works for you, and I’m more than happy to help with this if you have any questions.

I want to talk to you really quick about being comfortable on camera and how important it is to pretend the camera isn’t there. Sometimes people get stressed out, they get worried how they look, how they sound. And what you really need to understand… the very big picture is that we do this for a living and know how to make things look even better than they are sometimes. And how you may think, for example, you may not like that sound of your voice. Well, once we edit your voice a little bit, I mean, it’ll still sound the same, but once we edit it and then take out some of the other noises and then add a little bit of music in the background, you’d be surprised how beautiful your voice really is.

Now, if you take a step back and think about you’re getting married, you’re having your first dance. A lot of people, they just go into it, right? And here’s what ends up happening. Unless you have taken dance lessons or done a lot of dancing in your lifetime, chances are you’re going to get out on the dance floor and dance like you did in middle school or high school, or it just may not… I’m not saying that it’s bad. It just… you can really bring life to your video and photos when you take the time to actually learn either how to dance or a specific dance, specifically for your wedding day that’s unique to you.
